SportingTheory was created with the aim of closing the gap between published research and applied practice. Having studied sports coaching at undergraduate level, I was constantly told that there is a gap between sports science research and how athletes and coaches use research. Over the three years of my undergraduate degree, I experienced the disconnect between researchers and applied practitioners, which gave me a valuable insight into solutions to fix this problem.
Having had experience as a researcher and a grassroots coach throughout my degree, I have an in-depth understanding of the type of research that coaches want and how it can be presented to be easily understood and implemented. SportingTheory give coaches access to the latest sports science research and teach them how to apply it to their own coaching environments.
SportingTheory is aimed at sports coaches and athletes who are looking to understand and apply the latest sports science research for their particular sport. We want to help you use research to improve your sporting performance
Previous surveys which have explored the application of sports science have highlighted that the biggest barrier to coaches using research is that they don't have the time to look for specific papers or journals relating to a particular element of sports science.
